The Time to Winterize Your Camper is NOW — Before It FREEZES!
North Dakota temps can drop fast. Don’t wait until the first hard freeze—protect your plumbing, seals, and systems now. Roughrider RVs makes winterization easy so your camper is ready to roll next spring.
Use the Right Antifreeze
Not all antifreezes are the same. Always choose RV & Marine Antifreeze designed for RV plumbing. Using the wrong product can damage pipes, valves, and fittings.
Wash, Clean & Protect the Roof
Storage prep starts with a clean roof and exterior. Grab our RV Roof Cleaner & Protectant to help your roof shed snow and debris all season.
Limited-Time Deal: $5 OFF RV Roof Cleaner — while supplies last.
Typical Winterization Pricing
Labor typically $155 + RV antifreeze $4. Optional plastic on refrigerator vents to keep snow out: +$25. Pricing assumes holding tanks are empty, we have clear access to all drains, and the battery is fully charged. When those items are handled, winterization usually takes about an hour of labor. (Additional repairs quoted separately.)

Your RV roof is one of the most important — and often most overlooked — parts of your camper to maintain. Over time, sun exposure, rain, snow, and road grime can cause serious damage, leading to chalking, streaking, leaks, and expensive repairs.
At Roughrider RVs, we recommend treating your roof twice a year to keep it in top condition. If you’re getting ready to wash, clean, and winterize your camper, we strongly recommend adding the RV Roof Cleaner & Protectant to your routine.
Roughrider Tip: Treat your RV roof 2× per year. Apply at full strength for seasonal protection, or dilute 1:1 with water for light maintenance between treatments.
Your RV roof is exposed to the elements every day, and without regular care, problems can sneak up fast:
By cleaning and protecting your roof at least two times per year, you’ll extend its lifespan, prevent damage, and save yourself from expensive repairs later.
This product isn’t just a cleaner — it’s a protector. It helps keep your RV roof looking like new while fighting off sun damage and premature aging.

Product Review: 3X Chemistry Coil Clean – Foaming No-Rinse, No-Wipe Cleaner for RV A/C Units
When it comes to keeping your RV’s air conditioner running efficiently, having the right tools and products makes all the difference. One of our shop favorites is 3X Chemistry Coil Clean – a foaming, no-rinse, no-wipe cleaner designed for A/C coils and fins.
Over time, your A/C unit collects lint, dirt, and debris that can block airflow and strain the system. This cleaner’s powerful spray generates a thick foam that penetrates deep into the coils, breaking down soil so dirt and lint wash away naturally with condensation. The result? A clean, deodorized unit—no harsh chemicals or bulky equipment needed.

Shop Tip from Roughrider RVs
While this product is designed as a no-rinse cleaner, our techs still prefer to rinse the coils after cleaning. This lets them inspect the A/C fin blades for hail damage and check the roof sealant for any dried or cracked areas that may need resealing. Preventative maintenance like this keeps your A/C at peak performance and helps avoid costly repairs down the road.
Why We Recommend It
Coil Clean is formulated to quickly break down dirt, lint, grease, and matted material from RV condenser coils and fins. The foaming action cleans deep without leaving residue, and its deodorizing formula keeps your A/C smelling fresh. The spray can reach tight spaces without specialized tools—perfect for DIY maintenance or professional service.

We’ve had quite a few calls lately about stinky RV water—and if your water smells like rotten eggs, don’t worry, you’re not alone. The good news? It’s usually an easy fix once we narrow down the cause.
There are two main types of RV water heaters:
If you’re not sure which one you have, check your owner’s manual or stop by—we’ll help you identify it.
Anode rods are designed to corrode on purpose—they protect the water heater tank from rust and mineral buildup. But once they’ve corroded too far, your water will start to smell and your tank may begin to deteriorate.

Hot water naturally builds up bacteria and odor if it sits too long, especially in warm temperatures. That sulfur smell? It often comes from hydrogen sulfide gas caused by a reaction between:

Eternabond RoofSeal is a trusted solution for RV roof repairs—but like any product, it must be applied correctly to work effectively. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure strong adhesion and long-lasting results.
The most important step is cleaning. The roof surface must be clean and dry before applying the tape. Remove dust, oils, and contaminants using rags with rubbing alcohol or other recommended cleaners.
If the roof is dusty, wipe it with a damp cloth first and let it dry completely. Moisture or debris will prevent proper adhesion.
Measure the area that needs repair and cut a piece of tape slightly longer than needed. Rounding off the corners helps prevent peeling over time.
Use shorter sections for small patches—they’re easier to handle.
Peel back a few inches of the release liner from the adhesive side. Avoid touching the adhesive or letting it stick to unintended surfaces.
Hold the liner tab so you can easily continue removing it as you apply the tape.
Starting at one end, press the tape down firmly while slowly peeling away the liner.
Apply strong, even pressure using your hand or a seam roller. This helps eliminate air pockets and ensures a tight bond.
Go over the tape several times to activate and fully bond the adhesive.
After applying the tape, press down around all the edges and ends. This final step ensures the tape is sealed completely.
When working around corners or uneven surfaces, it's essential not to overstretch the tape. EternaBond should be laid in gently and pressed into place without pulling.
Stretched tape can pull away from the surface over time, causing gaps and potential leaks. Always press the tape fully into the corner and bring it all the way down to the edge to avoid uneven joints.
Use a roller for consistent pressure and to ensure complete contact along every edge and angle.
Improper application—such as using tape on a dirty surface, not pressing it tightly, or allowing wrinkles—can actually create voids that funnel water into your RV instead of sealing it out.
Inspection Quick Check:
For repairs involving roof T-molding and membrane seams, Eternabond-type tapes should run the full length of the roof edge to function as a proper secondary seal.
Eternabond RoofSeal stretches and flexes with your RV as it drives, so it won’t crack or lift over time. It adheres to:
It’s ideal for sealing around skylights, vents, antennas, and patching punctures or seam separations—even in remote locations.
Pro tip: Keep a roll in your camper for emergency use. When applied correctly, it can hold strong through heat, cold, road vibration, and UV exposure.
Whether you're on the road or at a campsite, a properly applied strip of RoofSeal can be the difference between a minor fix and a major leak.
